Meet Engy Fouda: AI Architect and Instructor at ONLC
Engy Fouda — published author, engineer, educator, and longtime ONLC contract instructor — recently joined the team full time as AI Architect and Instructor. For anyone who's taken one of her Docker or Kubernetes courses over the years, this probably isn't a surprise.
From Contract Instructor to AI Architect
Engy first started teaching with ONLC in 2017, delivering courses on Docker, Kubernetes, and SAS as a contract instructor. Over the years, she became one of the most requested instructors in our technical catalog — and it became clear that her contributions could go far beyond the classroom.
In her new role, Engy works closely with both our Systems & Data Pod and our Content & Curriculum Pod to develop new courses and products. Since coming on full time, she's been deep in Claude Code and building agentic workflows — designing AI systems that can reason through multi-step tasks and take action on behalf of users. That hands-on development work feeds directly back into the courses she teaches, keeping ONLC's AI training curriculum grounded in what these tools can actually do today.
Two Master's Degrees and Ten Books
Engy holds two master's degrees — one in Computer Engineering with a focus on computer vision from Cairo University, and another in Journalism with Data Science electives from Harvard University Extension School. She also earned a Data Science Graduate Professional Certificate from Harvard.
She's the author of ten books, including A Complete Guide to Docker for Operations and Development, Learn Data Science Using SAS Studio, and the co-authored Docker Workshop. Her writing spans technical guides, test-prep manuals, and creative works like Tales from Dreams and Tales about Love and Travel.
Before joining ONLC full time, she served as an Adjunct Lecturer at SUNY New Paltz, teaching Intro to Data Science and Introduction to Machine Learning using Python. Earlier in her career, she worked as a teaching assistant at the American University in Cairo and the German University in Cairo, where she founded the GUC Robotics Research Group.
Beyond the Classroom
Engy has volunteered as coordinator and team lead for Momken Group, an initiative focused on building programs and devices for the visually impaired, and serves as Executive Manager of Egypt Scholars. She's also a second-degree black belt in taekwondo, rides horses, and speaks four languages — Arabic, English, German, and French.
Engy is already at work developing new AI courses and products for ONLC's catalog. Follow along on LinkedIn or check out her Data Science in Action blog to see what she's up to.
